Austin delivers 2016 New Horizons Lecture

Army Gen. Lloyd J. Austin III, an Auburn University graduate and commander of United States Central Command, gave the Graduate School’s New Horizons Lecture on March 21 in the Langdon Hall auditorium. Austin, a native of Thomasville, Georgia, was commissioned an Infantry second lieutenant in 1975 upon graduation from the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. Austin’s lecture highlighted his rise from small-town Thomasville, Georgia, to a decorated 41-year military career and one of the most prestigious positions in the U.S. military.
