Admissions to any graduate degree program is granted by the Dean of the Graduate School upon the recommendation of the department of proposed study. Applications and all other relevant material must be received by the Graduate School at least 45 days before the first day of class of the semester in which the student wishes to begin graduate study. International applicants should submit all required materials at least 90 days before the first day of class of the semester in which the student wishes to begin graduate study. Deadlines set by the Graduate School are listed in the Auburn University Bulletin. However, most academic units make admission decisions several months in advance. Thus, applicants should check with the department to which they seek admission to determine when materials should be submitted.
Please note: We are migrating to a new application system and therefore most summer and fall 2024 application terms are not an available option in the current application. We estimate these application terms to open in mid-October 2023. Please check this page for more updates.
Some graduate programs have agreed to suspend the GRE/GMAT requirement or waive the requirement on an exception basis. For a full list of programs that are waiving test score requirements, please visit Test Score Waivers.
International applicants required to submit a language test score have several options of certifying their English proficiency.
The TOEFL or IELTS will be the only accepted language proficiency tests for admission to Auburn University Graduate School. We do not accept the Duolingo English Test.
ETS has also created the TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition to meet the needs of students who are unable to take the test in a test center due to COVID-19. The test is taken on your own computer at home and is identical in content, format and on-screen experience to the TOEFL iBT test taken at a test center. Visit The TOEFL Tests (ets.org) for more information.
To qualify for one of the application fee exemptions, you must submit the required documentation to the Graduate School.
