Five faculty members honored as Outstanding Graduate Mentors

Five Auburn faculty members have been selected as the Graduate Student Council’s 2024 Outstanding Graduate Mentors.

This year’s recipients are:

• Katharine Brown, University Writing
• Jean Fantle-Lepczyk, Wildlife Sciences
• Russell Mailen, Aerospace Engineering
• Vrishank Raghav, Aerospace Engineering
• Tonia Schwartz, Biological Sciences

The Graduate Student Council (GSC) recognizes faculty members who go above and beyond their duty as teachers, advisors, and mentors. This annual award is a special honor, as nominations and winners are determined entirely by graduate students. Nominations are reviewed by GSC Senators who serve on the awards review committee, and the top five candidates then selected and notified. 

The 2025 Outstanding Graduate Mentors were recognized along with other student and staff award recipients at the Graduate Awards Ceremony on April 25 in the Melton Student Center. The Graduate Student Council has presented the Outstanding Graduate Mentor Awards since 2008.
