Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) is a research communication competition that challenges current graduate students to present a compelling oration on their thesis or dissertation topic and its significance in just three minutes. 3MT develops academic, presentation, and research communication skills and supports the development of research students’ capacity to effectively explain their research in language appropriate to a non-specialist audience.

After the judge's scores are compiled, the top three winners will receive cash prizes and a certificate, including the top winner, the Runner-Up, and the audience's selection for the People's Choice award.The top winner from the November competition will advance to the regional competition at the Council of Southern Graduate School’s annual conference in February 2027 in Arlington, Virginia.
