MS Word Template & Sample Pages

Microsoft Word template - includes all required and optional pages with proper formatting and accessibility features built into the document. Simply fill in your content and delete the optional pages that you do not need. Replace the formatting and accessiblity guidance language with your own content. Pages will automatically be renumbered and the Table of Contents will autopopulate based on your changes.

LaTex Templates

For theses or dissertations containing many equations (typically mathematics or engineering disciplines), LaTex is often the preferred document preparation software.

While we are working on updating our LaTex templates (summer 2026) to meet federal accessibility requirements, we offer two current LaTex template options:

  • Overleaf template for Auburn University 
  • Download and unzip the au_style_files.zip to a directory, copy the ausample.tex file to thesis.tex, modify the \title, \author, \date, \copyright year, \advisor, and \professor tags for the preamble, and start writing your thesis or dissertation. Alternatively, you can look at the required items in ausample.tex and modify your pre-existing thesis or dissertation tex file.
